Award for Personal Licence Holders (APLH)

If you wish to apply for a Personal Licence to allow you to supply alcohol, as part of the application process you must obtain this certificate as it is a statutory requirement under the Licensing Act 2003.

A Personal Licence is required if you wish to become a Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS) and to enable a person to supply or authorise the supply of alcohol in accordance with a premises licence. Selling alcohol by retail will include all these establishments, on-sales or off-sales from pubs, bars, hotels, restaurants, night clubs, shops, supermarkets, entertainment venues. Mail order or internet sales will also require this. It is common good practice for bar staff and cashiers to obtain this qualification to enable them to fully understand and work within the legal requirements

Candidates who successfully complete and pass the multi-choice examination from the Awarding Body, HABC – Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance will be awarded the:

Level 2 Award for Personal Licence Holders (APLH)

By attending one of our one-day courses which are held on a regular basis in various locations, you will gain the required knowledge to help you to pass this examination and also ensure you comply with the latest mandatory items required under the Licensing Act 2003. It should be noted this HABC qualification meets the statutory requirements in exactly the same way as that offered by BIIAB.

“Open” courses are arranged on a regular basis, in addition limited spaces do become available on other client courses. Sessions can be arranged in most parts of the country and often at short notice, if you would like to attend or arrange your own course then please contact Derek Robinson on 07768 600037 to book a place.
